Letter, 28 October 1862.

The collection contains one letter from William Tipton to his parents. It is written from Greencastle, Indiana and describes his journey to stay with the Hanks family. It is assumed the Hanks live in Greencastle. He gives a harrowing account of eluding Rebels and describes the pro-Union and anti-slavery sentiments among the people in Greencastle.
